The Principles of Catholic Social Teaching are included in catechetical themes of youth ministry; encouraging youth to develop lifestyles that include service to others and care for creation. Throughout the year, opportunities in the parish, in families, and in the greater community are offered giving youth the chance to respond to the needs of others.
A decision to volunteer should be based on the teen's interests and giftedness. Long-term service is always encouraged, helping youth develop an attitude of availability, generosity, and stewardship.
