Additional Opportunities

Youth ministry does not occur one night a week.  It occurs every moment our youth exist.  This means the work never really stops.  Because of this, we need people who are willing to help with more than just the catechetical nights.  These positions are perfect for those who are unsure of an ability to commit regularly, but still desire to help to some extent.  The descriptions below outline some of the basic ways you can help outside of the main nights.

Chaperones and Drivers:  Not sure if you can commit to a regular schedule of service but still desire to help?  Throughout the year we will have many trips, retreats, and events which will require more help than our regularly scheduled programs.  It is the support of chaperones and drivers who make these events possible.  Without this loving gift of time we are unable to offer our teens a number of invaluable opportunities to experience God outside of our parish’s grounds.  This is a great ministry for anyone who has a spare minute and desire to help, and does not conflict with participation in any of our other teams or ministries.  Help give our youth the chance to participate in the universal call of our Catholic faith and join the larger Church.  (Those who wish to drive must meet the Arch-Diocesan standards for drivers of the youth.) “But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” Jms 2:18

Office Help:  While the best part of youth ministry is the actual time spent ministering to the teens, it is definitely not the only part of it all.  Most of it is done in the office, filing mountains of forms, entering oceans of data, and contacting entire nations of people.  Well, maybe that is a small exaggeration, but there is a lot of behind the scenes work that sure makes the previous statement feel like a reality at times.  So if you have a little extra time, and don’t mind helping out from time to time with a few tedious office tasks, you can be a part of the movement striving to keep the youth minister sane and the ministry running.  (There is definitely a special place in Heaven for you)  “ This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works; these are excellent and beneficial to others.” Tit 3:8

Supplies and Resources:  Do you have a special hook-up on some kind of supplies?  Or maybe you work for a company that could help our program in some way.  Well we need you too!  We want to be good stewards of the parish's resources while still providing the best for our teens.  So if you think you can help us with something, let us know.  Your gifts are greatly appreciated!  "For the rendering of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God." 2 Cor 9:11

Other:  There are too many people with too many talents and gifts for us to put limits on the categories.  We have all been called to serve, and whatever gifts God has blessed you with, there is a way to use them to His glory.  Whether it be musical skill, a talent for fundraising, or even an uncanny ability to juggle we can find a way to get you involved.  “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” 1 Pt 4:10

To find out how you can get involved, contact Ryan Janise in the youth ministry office.  We hope to hear from you!
